This program was a win-win initiative for the community of Wollondilly. We had the opportunity to proactively inform and improve young peoples’ (and future patrons) knowledge and understanding of the laws relating to the service of alcohol within licensed venues as well as highlighting the responsibilities of patrons in and around licensed premises. The program increased participants’ knowledge and skills, allowing them to be more self-sufficient in transferring of skills and knowledge to others in their communities. In addition now have increased employment opportunities in our local community, as Accredited RSA training is recognised within the TAFE system and can contribute towards attainment of a Certificate in Hospitality.

Project Aims

  1. Improved knowledge and awareness of the laws by young adults relating to licensed venues;
  2. Better understanding of the irresponsible liquor practices that lead to problems both on and off the licensed premise
  3. Increased personal skill set of participants of the RSA training
  4. Attainment of RSA accreditation by participants providing increased opportunities for young adults to access employment in the hospitality industry
  5. Increase membership of Youth Solutions’ Youth Network
  6. Increase membership of Wollondilly Shire Council Youth Database
