The YAG is a group of young people 15 – 25 years of age, living in the Macarthur region. The YAG was established in May 2010 with an aim for participants to determine and prioritise issues of concern in their own Local Government Area. To then develop and implement solutions to these issues as well as act in a consultative capacity to Youth Solutions, by providing input on young peoples’ issues and perspectives in our community with a particular focus on youth alcohol and other drug concerns.

Throughout the Youth Participation Project, the YAG will collate and analyse survey responses. From the results of the surveys, they will develop a multimedia campaign targeting key issues such as: alcohol, drugs and risky behaviour.

This project provides young people a platform to identify key issues and develop solutions.

YAG Thanks McDonald's in Macarthur!

Youth Solutions staff and YAG attended The Campbelltown Show as part of the IMB Youth Participation Project. An interactive information stall featured a mechanical bull as a free ride for those who completed a drug and alcohol survey. This provided YAG and Youth Solutions with the opportunity to engage with the local community and collect local data that will assist in the development of YAG’s multimedia campaign.

Leading up to this event YAG members contacted McDonald’s in Macarthur asking for support and received sponsorship worth $2,400 in the form of coupons to give out to young people at events as a reward for being involved in our activities.
