School Solutions


Youth Solutions received funding from Wests League Club, Campbelltown through the Community Development Expenditure Scheme (CDSE) to run the School Solutions Project.

Each participating school has established a School Action Team which has undertaken an analysis of drug education and related issues within their school. Data collected has informed a process of Strategic and Action Plan development. Identified action is currently being implemented by each school throughout 2006.

Project Aims

  • Increase schools capacity to support outcomes of West’s Youth Drug Forum held in 2004 and subsequent forums
  • Provide further significant opportunities for young people who attended the 2004 Youth Drug Forum to apply their drug prevention skills at a school level.
  • Development of group facilitation and management skills
  • Identification of drug related issues and strategies by young people in their school community.
  • Development of partnerships between schools
  • Establishment of peer drug education networks
  • Stakeholders identification in determining issues, strategies and desired outcomes, as well as identifying the extent to which the school is ready for change
  • Establishment of a whole of school Advisory Group (this is optional)
  • Initiation of sustainable action at the school level.
  • Increase in knowledge and understanding of drug issues by young people, parents, teaching staff of youth alcohol and other drug related issues.
  • Increase in skill level to deliver school based preventative drug education
