Legal Information
The legal drinking age in Australia is 18 years of age with the NSW Liquor Act 1982 containing a number of offences relating to under 18s (minors) and the consumption and supply of alcohol. Monetary fines ranging from $1,100 up to $11,000 can apply with police also able to issue on the spot fines for offences relating to minors. With regard to the illegal supply of alcohol to minors, maximum penalties range from $5,500- or $11,000 and/or 12 months prison. $550 on the spot fines can also be issued by police.
